Antlia 2.8nm Narrowband Filters

I have been looking to replace my old filters for sometime now. They are Optolong 7nm filters that produced some very good images, but are a big letdown on some onjects, especially the OIII on targets containing bright stars.

After much debating, and checking the availability, I made the decision to buy the Antlia 2.8nm SHO filters. The filters arrived extremely well packaged and protected from transport damage.

To go with the 36mm unmounted filters, I purchased the ZWO 36mm filter wheel. Installation of the filters was a little fiddly, but a straightforward process.

First light for the filters was a mixture of anticipation and nervousness, but my fears all but disappeared when I saw the first lights coming through. The median readings in SGP were way lower than anything I had witnessed previously, with the Optolong filters. I was particularly pleased with the OIII filter, it had none of the dreaded halos surrounding the stars, and it performed well, even in close proximity to the moon.

  1. I had a similar situation with my ZWO narrowband filters. I had been put off by the price of the upgrade to something a bit better, but bit the bullet in the middle of last year and the difference between the two made it well worth the investment. Clear skies!

    1. I believe ZWO and Optolong are the same filters, made in the same factory in China. The Antlia filters are streets ahead of the other two brands. Clear skies!
